Refocusing Health

Refocusing Health is a new EUROCAM project (September 2024 – December 2026) made possible through a donation by Triodos Foundation that will support key activities of this initiative.

In line with EUROCAM’s mission, Refocusing Health aims to promote the contribution Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Health (TCIH) can make for driving forward the One Health principle, which views human, animal and environmental health as interconnected.  As a positive, holistic and inclusive approach to health, TCIH has much to offer, not only in terms of improving the physical and mental health and wellbeing of individuals (e.g. via healthy nutrition and physical exercise), but also with regards to embracing mindful ways of living to build up resilience and prevent that the natural ecosystem (composed of people, animals, crops, water bodies, etc.) becomes fragile in the first place.

In doing so, TCIH advocates sustainable solutions for some of the key health and societal problems of our time, such as the urgent need to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and use medicines prudently, mitigate the ever-growing mental health crisis, and to protect the environment and biodiversity against the effects of climate change.

In concrete terms, the project will enable EUROCAM to leverage its broad network of members and partners, including experts active in different One Health-relevant areas, to select good TCIH practices and explain their wider societal value. This will be communicated via quarterly newsletters and video contributions. A central element for stimulating debates and exchanges about the need to bring about a paradigm shift will be the re-establishment of an MEP Interest Group at the European Parliament in Brussels. A series of planned Interest Group events will highlight TCIH contributions in EUROCAM’s strategic priority areas and One Health-relevant topics.

To find out more about the project, please sign up to the Refocusing Health newsletter (available from December 2024) and follow EUROCAM on social media via LinkedIn, and Instagram.
