Gustav Dobos MD PhD, Professor of Complementary and Integrative Medicine

Gustav Dobos MD, PhD, is Professor of Complementary and Integrative Medicine and former director of the Department of Complementary and Integrative Medicine, at the Essen-Mitte Clinic is now Head of the Department for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, University Essen and Chairholder of the Chair for Complementary Medicine at the University of Duisburg-Essen. He is a trained internist specialized in nephrology and intensive care medicine. One of his major scientific subjects is Mind-Body Medicine.

He is considered the most distinguished representative of modern naturopathy in Europe and is the author/co-author of 10 books, among which the current standard work on Mind-Body medicine and more than 300 Medline-listed publications, of which more than 40 are in the field of depression and Mind-Body Medicine. 

Dobos is a trailblazer and pioneer of science-based naturopathy in Germany and has made a significant contribution to scientifically substantiating naturopathy. Until then, it was predominantly based on experience and not established as evidence-based, thus integrating it into conventional medicine and laying the foundation for evidence-based Integrative medicine in Europe. For 22 years, he directed the clinic and centre for naturopathy and integrative medicine, where severely chronically ill patients have successfully been treated since 1999.
